Orlando has been working with Horses Spirits Healing Program for about 6 months now. His only previous riding experience was occasional trail rides throughout his life. Orlando first heard about our program through a friend who had previously been a participant in the HSHI riding program, then he was referred through the local VA Center. Orlando’s favorite horses in the program are Tyra and Rakush. He describes Tyra as very affectionate, meanwhile about Rakush he states, “I love his demeanor. He’s like a typical teenager, all the energy in the world, but he’s a big softie!”. Orlando has gained peace of mind and confidence in the saddle in his time with Horses Spirits Healing and says it’s something to look forward to each week. “I used to dread Mondays. I used to hate getting up. Now I look forward to them!”. He hopes to gain more confidence working with horses and utilize the therapeutic aspect of working with and riding horses as it relates to everyday life.
