WHERE THE HURTING COME TO HEAL
HORSES SPIRITS HEALING
Spending time with a horse creates connections that lead to healing.
Veteran families can find connection in time spent with each other and the horses.
FROM HEALING TO EMPOWERMENT
Robert Crandall, SSG USA Retired
“Working with the horse requires trust which comes with awareness and good communication. As part of my PTSD, I struggle with all of them. Being alert to what is going on with the horse is helping me develop my awareness of others and myself. This leads to better communication which — with time and practice — leads to trust.
The confidence that the HSHI personnel impart to me has helped me be more confident and comfortable. The result is I am making commitments, being responsible and involved. I am gaining control of my decisions and am more willing to be a part of the group.”
YOUR SUPPORT WORKS HARD FOR VETERANS
“For some Veterans, this is exactly what they’re needing. The human-animal interaction/modality works incredibly well for those Veterans who have become very guarded or cynical towards other human beings over the course of traumatic life experiences. It seems to allow these Veterans a safe entry-point into accessing VA therapeutic services where they can learn to let down their guard and begin the healing process.”
– Michael J. Kurtz, PsyD, MSCP, Psychologist/Supervisor Billings VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic
“Ask anyone who has spent time on a horse — the connection is intimate. And, undeniable. Horse. Human. Bond. The ability to heal follows.” — Chris Rubich, Equine Spirit, Magic City Magazine.
It is this simple, non-judgmental interaction that helps alleviate wounds, both seen and unseen.
Partnering with PATH, Intl., HSHI strives to aid our military heroes in their journey of healing. Our program is structured to offer all veterans the opportunity to connect with horses regardless of their experience. We teach from the ground up from learning to care for the horse with grooming and ground work to riding, which helps rehabilitates our bodies.
GIVE TODAY TO HELP VETERANS FIND HEALING
The recurring support of donors and volunteers allows this program to continue for veterans who have come to heal. Each week, more wounded veterans come to participate in the program.
Make sure each veteran has the chance to find the healing they need.
